Like the project and Give - Forrest - 03-21-2012 How do you really get people to pay attention and give, not just like the project? RE: Like the project and Give - Britta - 04-09-2012 Getting people to take action requires finesse. It is not a tactical thing that is easy to give tips for. They have to: 1) See value for themselves OR 2) Perceive an imperative Basically, they need a reward or a fear as a motivator. It's basically sales. I'm not a good sales person. I just believed in what we're doing and I knew what we needed because our back was up against the wall. I badgered people until we got it. It probably helped that I had already had to give up my apartment and couchsurf. I was willing to do 300 takes of the video until I got that take where I was kinda in people's faces, but in a good way. If people are not taking the action, you have to learn what is going wrong and tweak. My team was standing over my shoulder for my first 50 takes. Pirapha was like, "Nope. I don't believe you." I had to stand and deliver over and over and over again until they said, "yeah that's it." The price and rewards have to be right. If your rewards are not flying off the digital shelf, ask people why not. Finally, who is your audience? Is the audience on kickstarter, the people who you can actually drive to the page, the best fit for your rewards? |
